Introduction to Speed Listening
Speed Listening is a way of listening to audio recordings that maximizes your
brain's ability to process more words-per-minute. Our brains are capable of
processing up to 600 words-per-minute. The average person speaks at around 130
words-per-minute. As you can see it utilizes more of your brains true potential.
One of the remarkable things with speed listening is that it requires very
little training. It taps into your brains ability to process more. It allows you
to listen to more in less time with greater comprehension. You can get down to
listening to an hour's material in 20 minutes with a little practice. That said,
these files are only 50% faster. That makes an hour about 40 minutes.
Quality
At this time we are not at the best of quality. Our files currently have a
barrel sound to them. The good news is, the pitch is not changed. This makes it
so that it doesn't sound like we have Alvin the Chipmunk preaching.
Windows Media Player
You can also use Windows Media Player to speed up audio files. In Windows Media
Player go to View, Enhancements, then Play Speed Settings. If you can't find the
menu bar there is a little down arrow by the minimize button that gives you
access to the menu. You should see a slider bar across the bottom that allows
you to increase or slow down the file. This will only work on a file on the
computer. CDs and streaming audio can't be changed with this feature. |
